Steam link performance overlay3/1/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As of GOverlay 0.3.7 released on August 3 it does! The experience is now getting close to perfect. GOverlay had one major drawback until now: it didn't load your saved settings. So as long as you are using the Desktop overlay - which is the only way to get Steam's FPS Counter - you shouldn't be experiencing worse performance in games. Then depending on that try to lower the bandwidth cap and the quality preset of the app on the Chromecast. Then see what it says during these issues, like 'slow network' or 'slow decode'. And to reiterate, this overlay doesn't supply an FPS counter. First of all, go to the settings of the Steam Link app on the Chromecast and enable the full performance overlay. A dedicated application to let you tick boxes and move sliders to configure MangoHud settings. This overlay has been known to make games lag horribly, especially on weaker hardware or integrated GPUs. Neither of which are particularly user friendly and that's where GOverlay came in. Usually if you wish to configure MangoHud you would need to edit configuration files or set environment variables. MangoHud has become the go-to way to get a decent readout of game performance with an overlay on Linux, and now with the latest improvements the GOverlay interface has made it much easier to use.ĭon't know what MangoHud is or never seen it before? It's an open source overlay for monitoring FPS, temperatures, CPU/GPU load and more. ![]()
